Artist Ye Ruoshi

Ye Ruoshi is a Singaporean artist renowned for her brilliantly composed, flower inspired oil paintings. She first debuted as a professional painter in 2004 with a solo exhibition entitled 'Flowerism' featuring 100 lovely oil paintings. That was well received and served as encouragement for her to continue her focus on flowers as the theme for her works.

Prior to that, she worked for 10 years as a graphic illustrator and account executive at a graphic design firm which she co-founded after graduating from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in 1993. Although she majored in graphic design at NAFA, her true passion lies in drawing and painting.

Ruoshi was accepted as a member of Angkatan Pelukis Aneka Daya (APAD or Association of Artists of Various Resources) in the year 2000 and has actively participated in their exhibitions. On and off, she has also received numerous other invitations from various organisations to participate in art exhibitions.

Ruoshi's paintings celebrate our existentiality through her eloquent transformation of tropical flowers that line our streets into splendid representations of bliss. She works mainly with oil on canvas and her works always exhibit vivid colours with a fresh appeal. Spider lilies and heliconias are among her favourite species. Besides her passion for flowers and paintings, she is also active in the Cantonese opera scene as a leisure singer/ performer.
