Artist Teo Lay Lam She paints with a technical skill that speaks of her scientific background. Her paintings are technically accurate in size, colour, texture and details. Her works are produced with painstaking efforts for she is a perfectionist about capturing the different and subtle nuances of plants in nature. Each painting takes an average of 40-50 hours to complete. She is a member of the Botanical Art Society of Australia (BASA) and had exhibited with them annually whilst she was resident there. In the 2004 Annual BASA Exhibition, her painting 'Strelitzia nicolai' (the Snow or Giant Bird-of-Paradise) won an Honourable Mention at the Ewart Gallery in Sydney. In the 2005 exhibition, her 'Saracenia sp' was named 'Highly Commended'. She now lives in Singapore with her husband, Allen, her children, Colin, Julian, Leann and her Shiba Inu, Nikko. |
