Artist Chad Maxwell His diverse art styles range from abstraction to realism, he has no boundaries and prefers to "keep an open mind with regard to content." Chad prefers to work in series of paintings, and most of his paintings fit into ongoing themes regardless of subject. His body of work includes Ties that Bind", "Toys" and "Two Objects". "It's difficult to portray the overall concept with just a few paintings. I like to explore different sides to a theme, the number of paintings doesn't matter to me, what does is the clarity of what I'm defining." Challenging ones abilities and ones imagination to new undiscovered places...... hmmm that sounds pathetically romantic. But its true. I like to paint in themes or series because it lets me toy and poke around an idea without trying to pack it all up in one piece." Chad prefers to paint on a rather large scale, some measuring over 45 square feet. Not limited by size he has painted murals over 10,000 square feet. Painting big and bold is what he likes to do. |

Chads Philosophy I paint because I was a bad person in another life, so Providence made me an artist to torment me. Actually, it's a perfectly natural thing for me to do. The work, the thought process, the physical energy it takes, it's all one big meditation for me. Painting is the only thing I do that makes me feel consistently better. I think it was best said when someone described the creative process as being in the "FLOW" of life. Thats what happens when a person loses all sense of time and space. Like when we were little kids playing with our friends on a beautiful day, the day seemed to go twice as fast. That's how I feel when I'm painting, that's why I have to paint..... |
