Artist Anne Lim Siew Kim Anne Lim's journey as a self-taught artist began simply with the experience of taking Art as a subject in school. She enjoyed it particularly as an A-level subject but it was not until many years later that she experienced a great "freeing" of her imaginative and artistic capacities. This was thanks to the training she received as a Waldorf / Steiner teacher in Sydney, Australia. "What I have discovered," says the artist, " is that our artistic creations have a significance beyond our personal selves. This, I believe, is primarily because they have a spiritual basis. To me, every human being is meant to be creative, and the capacity to be an artist is given as a blessing, a gift, from God." Anne Lim lives in Singapore and is now semi-retired. She is also a published author and occasionally takes on editing and writing assignments on a freelance basis. Her book, Face to Face: The Street Children of Bukit Ho Swee, is illustrated with her own sketches of the children she wrote about.
